How Hemexa works, from joining to your six-month recheck
Hemexa is an annual preventative blood testing membership for adults in Australia. This page follows the membership in order, from joining to your six-month recheck. It is a preventative health service, not emergency or diagnostic care.

The membership journey
- 01
Join and build your profile
Create your member account and complete onboarding. Hemexa asks about your goals, lifestyle, body metrics, supplements, and the health conditions you choose to share. Your dashboard and personalised health plan unlock once your first baseline panel is complete.
- 02
A GP reviews your pathology request
A registered Australian GP engaged by Hemexa reviews your pathology request for appropriateness and safety before collection. Once it is approved, you receive your referral and collection instructions for the Healius Pathology brand that covers your state or territory, including fasting preparation.
- 03
Collect at a Healius centre
Walk in to a collection centre for your regional Healius brand. Hemexa members collect through the Healius Pathology network of 2,000+ collection centres nationwide, and samples are processed through NATA-accredited laboratories. Baseline and recheck draws are fasting, typically 8 to 12 hours with water only. No appointment is required. Bring photo ID and your Hemexa referral PDF. At-home collection is not available yet.
- 04
Get your results and plan
Most markers return within 24 to 72 hours of your draw, and complex hormone or specialty assays can take longer. Finalised results appear in your dashboard with health-system scores, range context, and an updated health plan. Your membership includes two 90-Day Health Reviews that update your plan ahead of your next test. If a result meets a Tier 1 threshold in the published critical results policy, a Hemexa team member phones you the same day.
- 05
Retest around six months later
Your six-month recheck starts with a default set of 12 fast-moving markers. If your baseline results and health plan point elsewhere, you can drop markers you do not need and bring forward others from your baseline panel of comparable cost. Hemexa recommends the changes, you confirm the final selection. Markers beyond that are quoted and charged separately.
- 06
Import past pathology
After your first baseline panel you can upload pathology PDFs from major Australian pathology networks and many smaller labs, including Healius brands, Sonic Healthcare brands (such as Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology), Australian Clinical Labs, 4Cyte, and others, so older results sit on the same timeline as your Hemexa panels.
